The beloved Animal Crossing franchise marks a significant milestone, celebrating 25 years since its initial launch in Japan as Dōbutsu no Mori (Animal Forest) on the Nintendo 64 on April 14, 2001. The game was later adapted for the Nintendo GameCube, making its debut in Western markets the following year. To commemorate this quarter-century achievement, Nintendo has released update 3.0.2 for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. This update not only addresses various bug fixes but also bestows a special commemorative item upon all players: a leaf statue.
Accompanying this in-game gift is a heartfelt letter, thoughtfully designed to evoke nostalgia by referencing the original packaging of Dōbutsu no Mori for the Nintendo 64. Furthermore, new music from the original game has been added to the Nintendo Music application, and the complete original soundtrack for Animal Crossing on GameCube is now available.
The latest installment on the Switch, New Horizons, received a substantial content update earlier this year with the introduction of the new Nintendo Switch 2 Edition and patch 3.0, which brought a wealth of new items and the Resort Hotel feature.
