AMD has launched the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition, a processor that marks a significant advancement by being the first consumer CPU to feature a dual-stack 3D V-Cache design. This new CPU achieves an unprecedented 208 MB of total cache. This innovation comes after years of prototypes based on the Zen 4 architecture and numerous rumors circulating since mid-2025. Unlike previous iterations that had a single cache stack, the 9950X3D2 utilizes two Core Complex Dies (CCDs) optimized with X3D technology.

AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2: Suggested Price

With a launch price of $899, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 enters the high-end computing market at a competitive price point. Specifically designed for developers and content creators dealing with complex, latency-sensitive workloads, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 benefits from the second generation of 3D V-Cache. This technology enhances data flow and allows the processor to operate within controlled temperatures, offering greater headroom for overclocking through tools like PBO and Curve Optimizer. Furthermore, its compatibility with the AM5 platform ensures that no new motherboards or memory are required for its use.

AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Specifications

The Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 features 16 cores and 32 threads, with a base clock speed of 4.3 GHz and a boost clock of up to 5.6 GHz. This slight adjustment in boost speed compared to the standard model is a consequence of the power demands of its substantial cache memory. This cache combines two CCDs, each with 64 MB of 3D V-Cache, along with the 32 MB of internal cache per chiplet, resulting in 192 MB of L3 cache. When L2 cache is included, the total cache reaches 208 MB. As a result of this enhanced performance, the Thermal Design Power (TDP) is rated at 200W, the highest seen to date for a chip on the AM5 socket.
