Prominent figures from the world of Mixed Martial Arts are making their way to Hollywood, with the upcoming continuation of the classic Naked Gun franchise featuring appearances from several notable MMA personalities.
Scheduled for release on August 1st, the new comedy-action film titled The Naked Gun is a legacy sequel to the much-loved movie series that starred Leslie Nielsen. The movie features Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson and continues the tradition of parodying typical cop films. While detailed plot information is still limited, it has been confirmed that the film will include a scene related to MMA.
A trailer for the movie, which was released on Monday, showcases appearances from a lineup of familiar MMA faces, including Justin Gaethje, Michael Bisping, Jon Anik, Bruce Buffer, and “Big” John McCarthy. The trailer even features a moment where Liam Neeson`s character seemingly punches out both Buffer and McCarthy.
Beyond the MMA cameos, the cast list includes other names such as WWE superstar Cody Rhodes (also represented by TKO), Paul Walter Hauser, CCH Pounder, Kevin Durand, Liza Koshy, Eddie Yu, and Danny Huston. The film is directed by Akiva Schaffer, an alumnus of Saturday Night Live, with Seth McFarlane, known for creating Family Guy and Ted, serving as an executive producer.
