Former world No. 1 and two-time Grand Slam champion, Belarusian tennis player Victoria Azarenka, has shared an update regarding her recent injury.
In a statement, Azarenka said: “Quick update on my injury: I am working on diagnostics and officially starting rehab and training. Good news is that there is no long term damage, but it will still take some time to recover fully. I really appreciate all the messages and support – it means a lot.”
She also added, “Thank you also to my opponent, Karolina, for her kindness and sportsmanship. Unfortunately injuries are part of our job. Focused on overcoming the challenge, work and where I will go next.”
Azarenka was forced to retire from her second-round match against Czech player Karolina Muchova at the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami due to the injury. Muchova was leading 6-0 when Azarenka stopped the match.
