Vassilis Spanoulis, the revered figure in European basketball, has officially stepped down from his position as head coach of the Roca Team, AS Monaco. This decision comes after a challenging period, heavily influenced by the club’s financial instabilities which consequently impacted the team’s performance, particularly in the EuroLeague.
Sources indicate that Spanoulis is currently not open to considering any new coaching opportunities. He intends to take a much-needed sabbatical, expected to last at least until the conclusion of the current season. Nevertheless, having recently guided a team to the EuroLeague finals as a coach, and also serving as the head coach for the Greek national team, it is widely anticipated that he will be a highly sought-after candidate for various coaching roles by next summer.
