The complete fight card for UFC Vegas 106, scheduled for May 17 at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, has been officially released. Headlining the event is a welterweight bout between Gilbert Burns and the undefeated Michael Morales.
This main event pairing was originally slated for UFC 315 the week prior but was moved to anchor the Fight Night card. The fight presents a clash of contrasting recent performances.
Gilbert Burns, a perennial contender in the 170-pound division, enters the fight on a three-fight losing streak. However, these defeats came against top-tier opponents: current champion Belal Muhammad, number one contender Jack Della Maddalena, and fellow highly-ranked welterweight Sean Brady.
Burns will aim to get back into the win column by handing Michael Morales his first professional loss. Morales boasts a perfect 17-0 record, including five straight victories since joining the UFC.
Most recently, Morales secured an impressive first-round knockout victory over veteran Neil Magny last August, earning a Performance of the Night bonus.
The co-main event for UFC Vegas 106 features a light heavyweight showdown as Paul Craig returns to the division to face Rodolfo Bellato.
Craig previously had a brief stint at middleweight but is moving back to 205 pounds where he spent the majority of his career. Notably, his record at light heavyweight includes a win over current champion Magomed Ankalaev.
Rodolfo Bellato brings a strong finishing record into the cage, having stopped 11 opponents in his 12 professional wins. His recent outings in the octagon include a victory over Ihor Potieria and a draw against Jimmy Crute.
