Jiu-jitsu was a prominent feature at UFC London, as submission victories highlighted Saturday`s bonus awards.
Four fighters, Sean Brady, Alexia Thainara, Shauna Bannon, and Kevin Holland, were each awarded $50,000 Performance of the Night bonuses for their spectacular wins at the event.
Instead of a Fight of the Night bonus, the UFC opted to distribute four individual Performance of the Night awards.
Sean Brady concluded the event with a remarkable finish against former UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards. Brady became the first fighter to defeat Edwards inside the distance, marking a significant victory and solidifying his position as a top contender in the 170-pound division after his third consecutive win.
Alexia Thainara and Shauna Bannon also achieved submission victories. Thainara, in her debut, utilized her strong ground game to submit veteran Molly McCann. Shauna Bannon recovered from a head kick knockdown to secure a slick armbar against Puja Tomar.
Kevin Holland received a Performance of the Night bonus for a different reason – a dominant unanimous decision win over Gunnar Nelson. Holland demonstrated his grappling prowess, matching Nelson on the ground and ultimately out-grappling him throughout the fight.
This Performance of the Night award marks the eighth such bonus in Kevin Holland`s UFC career.
