Preview UFC 317: Undefeated Newcomer Steps in to Save Bout on Topuria vs. Oliveira Card

UFC 317 is undergoing a fight card alteration just days before the highly anticipated pay-per-view event.

The promotion has announced a change in a middleweight matchup: Sedriques Dumas has withdrawn from his scheduled bout against fellow newcomer Jackson McVey for undisclosed reasons. Stepping in to replace Dumas is another undefeated fighter set to make his Octagon debut, Christopher Ewert.

Christopher Ewert holds an unblemished professional record of 8-0. The 31-year-old began his career in December 2022 and has quickly built his record, with recent performances under the Fury FC banner. He was previously expected to compete on Dana White`s Contender Series in August but will now fast-track his way to the main UFC roster, debuting on the International Fight Week card. His recent victories include a first-round knockout of AJ Chambers and a decision win over Reese Watkins.

Jackson McVey also brings a perfect professional record into the fight, standing at 6-0. All six of McVey`s wins have come via first-round finishes, with none of his bouts lasting beyond the two-minute mark, highlighting his significant finishing power early in fights.

The UFC 317 event is headlined by a clash for the vacant lightweight championship between former featherweight king Ilia Topuria and former 155-pound titleholder Charles Oliveira. In the co-main event, flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja will defend his title against knockout artist Kai Kara-France.
