Joshua Van and Brandon Royval ensured they delivered performances to remember at UFC 317.
These flyweight competitors engaged in a thrilling three-round battle that captivated fans at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and is already being hailed as a strong contender for Fight of the Year. While Van secured the victory via unanimous decision, both athletes are taking home an extra $50,000 bonus check after their bout was named Saturday`s Fight of the Night.
Additional $50,000 Performance of the Night bonuses were awarded to Ilia Topuria and Gregory Rodrigues, each for their spectacular knockout finishes.
Topuria`s knockout was particularly memorable, needing less than half a round to finish future Hall of Famer Charles Oliveira and claim the vacant lightweight championship. This win marks Topuria`s third consecutive title fight victory, adding to his previous knockouts of Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway in featherweight title bouts, and extends his perfect UFC record to an impressive 9-0.
Gregory Rodrigues also delivered a powerful and chilling knockout in the final preliminary fight, finishing fellow middleweight veteran Jack Hermansson with a heavy punch. This performance earns “Robocop” his fifth post-fight bonus in the UFC.
