Preview UFC 316: Merab Dvalishvili vs. Sean O’Malley 2 Main Card Revealed

The official main card lineup for the upcoming UFC 316 event has now been confirmed.

Event Details

In approximately four weeks, the Ultimate Fighting Championship will return to the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, for UFC 316. This pay-per-view card is set to feature two championship bouts.

Main Event: Bantamweight Title Rematch

Headlining the event is a highly anticipated rematch for the bantamweight championship. Current titleholder Merab Dvalishvili is scheduled to defend his belt against Sean O’Malley, the fighter he defeated to initially claim the title. O’Malley has not competed since that championship loss but is immediately granted another opportunity against the champion. Dvalishvili successfully defended his title for the first time in January, securing a unanimous decision victory over Umar Nurmagomedov at UFC 311.

Co-Main Event: Women`s Bantamweight Title

The co-main event will see Julianna Peña defend her recently re-captured women’s bantamweight title. Her opponent will be Kayla Harrison, a decorated former two-time PFL champion making a significant step in the UFC. Peña regained the championship at UFC 307 by defeating Raquel Pennington via split decision. Harrison holds a perfect 2-0 record in the UFC and earned a unanimous decision win against Ketlen Vieira on the same UFC 307 card. The winner of this bout is anticipated to potentially face the legendary Amanda Nunes should she decide to return from her retirement.

Additional Main Card Bouts

The UFC 316 main card is bolstered by several other compelling matchups:

  • Featured Middleweight Bout: Kelvin Gastelum vs. Rising Prospect Joe Pyfer
  • Bantamweight Bout: Former Title Challenger Marlon Vera vs. Top 10-Ranked Mario Bautista
  • Main Card Opener (Welterweight): Vicente Luque vs. Kevin Holland

UFC 316 is scheduled to take place on June 7th. The main card will be broadcast live on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
