The U.S. Open Cup field has narrowed to the final 16 teams, all set to compete this week for a place in the quarterfinals.
This stage primarily features matchups between Major League Soccer (MLS) clubs, most of whom advanced by defeating lower-league opponents in the previous rounds. However, there`s one significant exception: the USL Championship`s Pittsburgh Riverhounds. They pulled off the only upset in the last round, securing a 1-0 victory over New York City FC. The challenge won`t diminish for the Riverhounds, who are set to face the top team in the MLS Eastern Conference, the Philadelphia Union.
The Union are joined by several other MLS powerhouses in the last 16. This includes Minnesota United, currently second in the Western Conference, who will play against St. Louis City. An Eastern Conference clash sees fourth-place Nashville SC visit fifth-place Orlando City.
You can catch all the live action on Paramount+. Additional coverage will be provided by CBS Sports Network and CBS Sports Golazo Network on Tuesday and Wednesday. Wednesday`s coverage includes another broadcast of the Golazo Show, coinciding with six games happening simultaneously, airing on CBS Sports Golazo Network.

Matchup to Watch: Cupset Potential in Pennsylvania
The most compelling fixture this week is between two Pennsylvania sides, one clearly the favorite and the other the definite underdog. The Philadelphia Union fall into the first category, enjoying a strong start under head coach Bradley Carnell and currently leading MLS`s competitive Eastern Conference after 14 games. They are arguably the strongest team remaining in the competition. Their opponent is the U.S. Open Cup`s last remaining Cinderella story – the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. While their third-round win against Columbus Crew 2 wasn`t entirely unexpected, they truly made a statement in the Round of 32, becoming the only lower-league side to defeat an MLS club by securing a 1-0 win over New York City FC. How much further they can advance is the major question heading into this round.
