Preview ‘They Should Be Paying Me’: Pros Mock Devin Haney After Uninspiring Times Square Victory

Devin Haney`s recent boxing return concluded with his hand raised in victory, but the lackluster performance may have negatively impacted his standing.

In his first bout since the controversial April 2024 fight against Ryan Garcia, Haney won by unanimous decision after 12 widely panned, inactive rounds held at Times Square in New York. Haney spent much of the match defensively circling with minimal significant punches thrown. Fortunately for him, his opponent, Jose Ramirez, proved even less effective, allowing Haney to secure clear scorecards of 119-109, 119-109, and 118-110.

This outcome was not the dominant display Haney`s supporters were anticipating. The 26-year-old aimed to recover momentum following the Garcia fight, where he suffered his initial professional loss via majority decision – a result later overturned after Garcia failed a drug test.

A year on from that event, Haney`s showing against Ramirez did little to build excitement for a potential rematch, judging by the online response. Fellow fighters particularly criticized Haney`s performance, with some sarcastically suggesting they deserved payment for enduring the boring contest.

The negative reactions circulated widely across social media platforms.
