Square Enix is back with more details on The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, following the reveal of what to expect in the Age of Reconstruction, one of four eras to visit in the game. This time, focusing on the Age of Magic, we’ll see new characters and locations to explore.
Age of Magic
Long before the Age of Reconstruction lies the Age of Magic. It was a time of great prosperity for humanity, fueled by technological advancements in magic, so much so that they even managed to push back the beast tribes. But the future beyond this prosperity is a world in ruins. Without a doubt, at some point in this era, things spiraled out of control.
Weyzn
Weyzn is a magical nation filled with magnificent buildings, standing in stark contrast to Philabieldia, Elliot’s home city, inhabited by beastmen. The nation’s prosperity is supported by two magical research institutions: Forthewor, which relentlessly pursues technological advancement by any means, and Formanit, whose primary goal is to enrich people’s lives. The lives of Weyzn’s citizens depend entirely on magic, and research in this field continues ceaselessly.
Characters
Fausta (Voice: Sayaka Oohara/Elizabeth Maxwell)
A former member of Forthewor, this scholarly researcher went independent to found and lead the Formanit Institute. Her serious and rigorous approach to research has earned her the deep trust of her employees.
Marnie (Voice: Sayumi Suzushiro/Suzie Yeung)
A researcher at the Formanit Institute. She is an expert in magic technology, particularly mechanical engineering, and conducts field tests with magical organisms known as thaumata. Marnie admires Director Fausta and is fully dedicated to the institute’s principle: magical research for people’s happiness.
Hildebrandt (Voice: Show Hayami/Christopher Smith)
Director of the Forthewor Institute. A realist who prioritizes results, the numerous fruits of his exceptional research skills earned him the directorship at a young age. He is highly respected by the people of Weyzn for his advancements in magic development.
Ikarus (Voice: Yuuya Uchida / Chris Okawa)
Head of the Weyzn nobility. Stern and serious, he spares no effort in fulfilling his responsibility to govern Weyzn. Due to his concern about Forthewor’s reckless pursuit of progress, he has formed a cooperative relationship with Fausta, whom he consults for advice.
System: Weapon Upgrades
Elliot can find seven types of weapons to aid him in his adventure. More powerful versions exist within the same weapon types, possessing not only greater attack power but also more potent special attacks. Find weapons scattered throughout the caves and ruins of various eras and stay ahead of the adventure.
Some more powerful weapons are found in areas outside the main story. If you find an unexplored location, a detour might be necessary.
With a more powerful weapon, your possibilities for combining it with other weapons or customizing it with magicite expand. Think of new battle strategies each time you acquire a new weapon.
System: Magicite Upgrades
Magicite, which grants various effects to weapons, comes in different rarity levels. Even among magicite with the same effect, rarer versions can have more potent effects. The more magicite you create, the higher the chance of creating rarer magicite, so craft it early and often.
Lightning-infused magicite adds lightning to the hammer’s special attacks. Rarer versions add more lightning, hitting enemies in a wider area.
There is a limit to how much magicite you can equip, and more powerful magicite has a higher cost. However, as rarity increases, the cost decreases, allowing for even more flexible customization.
Adventure Distraction: Faie’s Magic Lessons
Finding new fairy magic for Faie unlocks mini-games in the form of Faie’s Magic Lessons. Make the most of a new magical ability to earn points in that lesson. Depending on your score upon completion, you’ll receive discs that allow you to listen to the game’s soundtrack. Access Faie’s Magic Lessons from her menu section.
Listen to the discs in the Music menu. In addition to score-based rewards, some discs can also be obtained during the mini-game.
Magic Lesson – Sprint: Race down a snowy slope, accumulating points. Reach the goal before the avalanche catches you for an even higher score.
Magic Lesson – Teleport: Teleport from platform to platform in this lava-filled stage. Watch out for moving and sinking platforms, and walls that hinder teleportation.
The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is coming to Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on June 18, 2026.
