The MSB team for the 2026-2027 season is nearly complete with the announcement of Melvin Ajinça's signing. The 22-year-old, 2.03m tall forward arrives from ASVEL and is expected to play a significant role in the Le Mans squad, given his substantial professional experience for his age.

At just 22, Melvin Ajinça, cousin of Alexis Ajinça, is set to begin his fifth professional season, and his third in a top-tier continental competition. He first gained recognition at Saint-Quentin, where he was named the best young player in Pro B upon his departure from INSEP. He was also drafted into the NBA as the 51st pick in 2024. Ajinça has since showcased his talents in the Euroleague with Villeurbanne, averaging 6.8 points and 2 rebounds in 19 minutes per game across all competitions. He now joins MSB, where he will be entrusted with greater responsibilities under coach Guillaume Vizade.

"We are very happy to see another young French player join our project," stated the coach of Sarthe. "With notable professional experience since leaving INSEP, Melvin will bring us his shooting ability at the small forward position, his physical presence, particularly in attacking the basket and rebounding. He is an exemplary player with a commendable attitude noted by all his former coaches and teammates. He strengthens our perimeter and helps our team take shape."

Ajinça's versatility allows him to play multiple positions, offering a modern profile that combines adaptability and mobility. His technical and athletic skills, along with his activity on both ends of the court, are expected to facilitate his integration into Le Mans' playing system.

With this acquisition, MSB now has 10 professional players under contract for the 2026-2027 season: Melvin Ajinça, Léopold Delaunay, Ugo Doumbia Niang, Lucas Dufeal, Bastien Grasshoff, Jordan King, Swann Penda, Carlos Stewart, TaShawn Thomas, and Wilfried Yeguete.
