Japanese developer SNK has officially announced the start of celebrations for the 30th anniversary of Metal Slug, its legendary run-and-gun action franchise. As part of the anniversary campaign, SNK has launched a special website and a retrospective video. According to an official statement, SNK plans to revive the Metal Slug franchise through various projects, including a new video game.

“To celebrate 30 years of Metal Slug action, we are revitalizing and relaunching the series with a wide range of exciting projects, including new initiatives in the world of video games!” reads SNK’s message on the franchise’s official 30th-anniversary page.
Additionally, several social media users have pointed out that SNK has posted job openings for pixel animators and 2D designers. Specifically, the Japanese developer is seeking personnel for the production of pixel art character illustrations and animation creation, as well as character design and setup material creation for game development.
