World No. 3 American Coco Gauff discussed her loss in the final of the WTA 1000 tournament in Rome. She was defeated by Italy`s Jasmine Paolini in straight sets, 4/6, 2/6.
“I`m proud of my performance at both the Rome and Madrid tournaments. However, I am also disappointed that I couldn`t play my best in the final,” Gauff commented.
“Jasmine played really great tennis today. She made me feel uncomfortable on the court. And honestly, Jasmine deserved to win. She`s very strong on clay.”
“In matches against certain opponents, I know I need to play a bit more aggressively than usual. This means taking risks that aren`t entirely comfortable for me. That`s why I had a lot of double faults today,” Gauff stated during the post-match press conference.
