Sean Strickland has apparently fared well financially throughout his fighting career. The former UFC middleweight champion recently appeared on a live stream with popular influencer Adin Ross, where he discussed various topics, including his personal finances.

When asked about his wealth, Strickland estimated his current liquid net worth to be approximately $4 million. He clarified that this figure represents investments, mentioning around $500,000 is in real estate and the rest is held in different accounts.

Looking ahead, Strickland projected that his net worth could grow to between $8 million and $10 million by the time he concludes his fighting career. He calculated that a five percent annual withdrawal from an $8 million sum would provide him with about $400,000 per year to live on after retirement.

While there are no official public records detailing Strickland`s earnings over his 11-year UFC tenure, his resume includes 23 fights for the promotion, three of which were title bouts, suggesting he is one of the higher-compensated athletes. However, Strickland has previously been critical of UFC fighter pay, noting issues with contract negotiations in a May 2024 conversation with Daniel Cormier.

Strickland seems confident he will be able to live comfortably once he stops competing, but he remains undecided on whether he will stay involved in the mixed martial arts community or pursue other ventures entirely after retirement.

He expressed that he enjoys working and often finds that after a fight, despite having substantial money and freedom, he feels most unhappy when contemplating what would genuinely bring him joy. He stated, “What will make me happy?” is a question that brings discontent.

Currently, Strickland is seeking to return to the win column following his championship rematch loss to Dricus du Plessis at UFC 312. The 34-year-old fighter does not yet have his next bout scheduled. He revealed to Ross that he recently declined an offer to fight Caio Borralho, a top-10 contender currently on a winning streak.

Strickland explained that his reason for turning down the fight against Borralho was due to their personal relationship. He mentioned knowing Borralho`s wife and child and having a personal liking for Caio, describing him as a “really nice guy.” He found it challenging to agree to fight someone he knows and respects who has a family, asking himself if he genuinely wanted to take that fight.
