Preview Rybakina: “Matches Against Pegula Are Always Very Tough”

Kazakhstani tennis star Elena Rybakina shared her insights following her hard-fought 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory over American Jessica Pegula in the Miami Open quarterfinals.

This triumph marked the world No. 2 Rybakina’s fifth consecutive win in head-to-head encounters against world No. 5 Pegula.

During her on-court interview, Rybakina commented: “Matches against Jessica are always incredibly tough. She started the game really well, and I, on the contrary, was rushing too much. Nevertheless, I’m very happy that I managed to turn the match around. An early break in the second set really helped me, and a couple of times I was just lucky. I tried to play at the net actively because Jessica was playing very fast and hitting short.”

Rybakina is now set to face the winner of the match between Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus and Hailey Baptiste of the USA in the semi-finals.
