This marked Garcia`s first fight since April 2024, following a controversial period. In his previous bout against Devin Haney, Garcia missed weight but still managed multiple knockdowns and secured a majority decision win. However, this result was later changed to a no-contest due to a failed drug test, leading to a one-year suspension from the sport.
