Former world number seven Richard Gasquet has shared the biggest regret from his professional tennis career. He is scheduled to retire after this year`s Roland Garros tournament.
“Of course, I never won a Grand Slam tournament. But I quickly realized it would be tough; I saw the strength of that generation of players. I reached the semi-finals three times, and I truly believed I could win, but I was beaten each time. I reached world number seven in the rankings, even though I wanted to get into the Top 5. But that`s acceptable too.”
He added, “What I enjoyed most was beating those great opponents, even though it didn`t happen consistently.”
