Ahmad Nassar, the Executive Director of the Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA), explained the reasons behind the organization’s lawsuit against the ATP, WTA, ITF, and ITIA. The PTPA was founded in 2020 by Novak Djokovic and Vasek Pospisil.

The lawsuit addresses issues such as limitations on player income, the tournament schedule, the ranking system, and the anti-doping system.

In response, the ATP stated that the association has ‘chosen division over progress and is distracting with misinformation’.

Nassar argues that tennis, unlike many other sports, has significant untapped potential to expand its already engaged audience. He believes this requires a more logical calendar and a more appealing TV product. These changes, he says, would increase profits for everyone, including tournament owners, benefit smaller tournaments and players, and provide fans with a better quality product.

Nassar encouraged fans to actively voice their support for the PTPA’s actions, suggesting they use social media and attend tournaments to support their favorite players. He emphasized patience, acknowledging that change takes time but reiterated the PTPA’s commitment to challenging the status quo.
