Achraf Hakimi, the current holder of the Marc-Vivien Foé Prize, will not be defending his title. The Paris Saint-Germain right-back has been omitted from the list of 11 nominees for the award recognizing the best African player in Ligue 1. Hakimi’s exclusion is attributed to his ongoing trial for rape, which disqualifies him based on the criterion of ‘exemplary behavior off the field.’
