Patchy Mix has broken his silence following his recent defeat in his highly anticipated UFC debut. The former Bellator bantamweight champion stepped into the octagon at UFC 316 on Saturday night, facing Mario Bautista in a main card bout, ultimately losing by unanimous decision.
The fight proved to be a challenging affair for Mix, who appeared to be largely controlled from beginning to end. In the wake of the loss, Mix shared his initial thoughts and reaction to his performance via a post on Facebook.
“Tough night for me in the office,” Mix wrote. “But I appreciate the people that have supported and been along for the ride. Would have liked to do more and made adjustments. I will come back stronger from this moment.”
Mix also seemed to address some doubters in an Instagram story, where he reportedly mentioned taking the fight on short notice.
Background and Context
This defeat marks only the second loss of Mix`s 22-fight professional career and his first in nearly five years. Prior to signing with the UFC, Mix had built an impressive resume, having won eight consecutive fights. This significant win streak included notable victories over opponents such as Sergio Pettis, Raufeon Stots, Magomed Magomedov, James Gallagher, Albert Morales, and Kyoji Horiguchi.
Conversely, Mario Bautista successfully extended his own winning streak to eight consecutive victories with his performance against Mix. Bautista`s previous fight saw him earn a controversial decision win over former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo at UFC 307 last October.
