Paige VanZant`s desired opportunity is now confirmed.
The well-known veteran of the UFC and BKFC promotions is slated to compete in the inaugural women`s championship bout in Power Slap history. Her return to action is scheduled for June 27th, coinciding with International Fight Week events in Las Vegas.
VanZant is set to face Mikael-Michelle Brown in a rematch that will crown the first-ever Power Slap women`s flyweight champion. The event will be held at the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas, taking place just one day before UFC 317 is scheduled at T-Mobile Arena.
In their previous encounter, VanZant secured a decisive victory, winning with identical 30-27 scores on all judges` scorecards. Following that dominant performance, she immediately called for a Power Slap title shot.
“Hey Dana [White], where`s that [125-pound] belt, baby?” VanZant declared after her win. “Put me on the next card. Let`s get some women`s belts. We`re here to stay. We`re here to knock bitches out and slap people all day.”
VanZant`s initial entry into Power Slap was viewed with some surprise, given her extensive background competing in both the UFC and later transitioning to bare-knuckle fighting with BKFC. Her Power Slap debut resulted in a victory, but her second appearance ended in a draw attributed to an illegal blow from her opponent.
She rebounded successfully in her third match back in March, which was the event where she publicly requested a future championship opportunity.
Now, the 31-year-old athlete will have her chance to add a coveted championship to her resume, with the Power Slap title fight officially booked for June.
