Paddy Pimblett is remarkably open about sharing the specifics of his often dramatic weight loss leading up to fights.
Affectionately known as “The Baddy,” he has gained notoriety for gaining significant weight between bouts, frequently appearing far above the lightweight division limit in his vlogs. Nevertheless, he consistently manages to successfully make the 155-pound mark for weigh-ins. In preparation for his clash with Michael Chandler at UFC 314 this past April, Pimblett disclosed that he commenced his training camp needing to shed at least 40 pounds.
Despite the demanding nature of such a cut, Pimblett proceeded to deliver a dominant performance against Chandler, securing a submission victory and extending his flawless UFC record to 7-0.
Pimblett recently released a video documenting this extensive weight loss journey, showcasing the transformation from the initial stages of his camp all the way to weigh-in day.
Even though he encountered some initial challenges with his weight not dropping as quickly as desired, Pimblett successfully reached approximately 175 pounds with less than three weeks remaining until fight night. With just two days left before stepping onto the scale, he was down to 170 pounds, which his team apparently considered the ideal target weight at that point.
Following one final push, Pimblett was only a couple of pounds over the limit on the night before the official weigh-ins. He ultimately weighed in at 156 pounds, perfectly suitable for a non-title lightweight contest. Surprisingly, Pimblett commented on the process, stating, “It was one of my easiest weight cuts.”
The results speak for themselves: Pimblett`s significant win over Chandler, a respected three-time Bellator champion and established UFC contender, has undeniably propelled him into serious contention within the lightweight title picture.
