Recently drafted by the Connecticut Sun, Nell Angloma expressed her profound excitement and acknowledged the hard work that led to this significant achievement. She shared this moment with her parents and close circle, eagerly anticipating her new experience.
Angloma plans to conclude her current season with Montpellier before joining the Sun. Her trip to the United States for the draft ceremony was a memorable experience, including visits to iconic landmarks like the Empire State Building. The day after the draft, she met with her new franchise, exploring their facilities and staff.
Regarding her high draft position, Angloma stated she had no specific expectations, aiming only to be drafted in the first round and enter the league. She is content with the outcome. Her academic pursuits, including her time at Pôle Espoir de Rouen and the Centre Fédéral, alongside her first professional contract in Montpellier, have prepared her for new challenges and goal-setting.
Angloma believes her playing style is well-suited for the WNBA and sees the opportunity as a platform for skill development. She feels capable of not only existing in the league but also performing at a high level, learning from experienced players and the competitive, athletic nature of the WNBA.
She views her current season with BLMA as a continuation of her breakout performance with the France U19 team in the summer of 2025. That experience boosted her confidence and ability to handle responsibility, for which she is grateful to her coach for the opportunities given to young players.
As her coach Valéry Demory concludes his tenure, Angloma and her teammates are motivated to win a final trophy for him and for themselves, seeing it as a fitting reward for their season’s efforts.
Despite her youth, Angloma exudes a calm demeanor, attributing her success to consistent hard work, discipline, and belief in her abilities. She recognizes the fortune of pursuing her passion and achieving success, emphasizing the importance of staying focused.
Her progression to becoming the best young player in the Ligue Féminine was a result of continuous hard work. Her first division season presented new challenges and transitions, but perseverance and self-belief were key to her development and overcoming obstacles.
Her time at Pôle France, specifically INSEP, played a crucial role in her maturity as a woman and player. She also credits the individuals and teammates she encountered throughout her journey, from Rouen to Montpellier, for shaping her into the player she is today.
Angloma’s ambition has always been to be among the top players. While she remains focused on finishing her season with Montpellier and her upcoming WNBA experience with the Connecticut Sun, she acknowledges that future opportunities, like playing in the Euroleague abroad, may arise and will be considered.
