Conchita Martinez, the coach of world No. 7 Russian tennis player Mirra Andreeva, has shared her thoughts on the 17-year-old athlete`s preparation for the upcoming clay court season.
Martinez stated, “Mirra is a natural talent on clay. Her movement on this surface is exceptional, so the adaptation will primarily be psychological. While the rallies will be longer, the fundamental approach to the game shouldn`t drastically change. I still want her to maintain her aggressive style of play.”
She further added, “We are focusing on enhancing her versatility, ensuring she can vary the ball`s height when needed, while consistently playing with aggression. Whenever the opportunity arises to step into the court, she needs to seize it, regardless of whether it`s on clay or hard courts.” Martinez made these remarks during an interview with Tennis Channel.
