Max Holloway, known for joking about the Hawaiian-like استقبال he gets in Las Vegas, might need to add South Korea to his list of welcoming places. He received an incredibly enthusiastic greeting upon arriving in South Korea on Sunday.
The former UFC featherweight champion was met at the airport by his past opponent, “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung, and hundreds of excited fans eager to see him up close.
Holloway smiled at the loud cheers and applause from the crowd as he exited the plane. He is expected to spend time training with “The Korean Zombie” during his visit.
Holloway has consistently praised “The Korean Zombie,” both before and after their 2023 fight, which was Jung`s final match before retiring.
“This guy is a legend,” Holloway said after their fight. “He`s called Korean Zombie for a reason. He`s a myth, a legend.”
While Jung is now retired and focused on his Z Fight Night series in South Korea, Holloway is preparing to move to the lightweight division after his featherweight loss to Ilia Topuria last October.
Holloway`s next opponent is still undecided, but rumors suggest a potential fight with Dustin Poirier later this year. Poirier has mentioned retiring after his next fight, and a third match against Holloway could be a fitting end to his career.
In the meantime, Holloway will be training in South Korea, where he has clearly been welcomed with great enthusiasm.
