Former world number one Mats Wilander has shared his expectations regarding Novak Djokovic`s performance in clay court tournaments. Wilander confessed that he does not foresee a successful beginning for the 24-time Grand Slam winner on this surface.
“I think he will initially encounter certain difficulties, just like in recent years.
This part of the season is not ideally suited to his style of play. Nole is an exceptional player on clay, but his ball-striking technique on clay is not optimal. His forehand is less effective on these types of courts, which can make it challenging for him,” – Wilander stated, as reported by Tennis World USA.
