Preview Mateusz Gamrot Rips ‘Coward’ Benoit Saint Denis for Turning Down Short-Notice Fight at UFC 315

UFC lightweight Mateusz Gamrot is expressing considerable dissatisfaction with the division`s top contenders.

Ranked No. 7 himself, Gamrot claims he`s had difficulty securing bouts against higher-profile opponents despite actively seeking them out. He highlighted an instance where No. 1 contender Arman Tsarukyan reportedly declined a main event slot for an upcoming Abu Dhabi card, a fighter whom Gamrot has previously defeated.

However, it appears Tsarukyan isn`t the only fighter he has an issue with.

Most recently, on Monday, Gamrot publicly criticized the No. 13 ranked Benoit Saint Denis, alleging that Saint Denis refused a short-notice opportunity to fight him this Saturday at UFC 315. Saint Denis was originally scheduled to face Joel Alvarez, who pulled out due to a hand injury, leaving his spot open. Gamrot states he offered to step in but was rejected.

Quoting a direct statement, Gamrot posted: “BSD turned down the fight next week, what’s wrong with you guys? Grow some balls, cowards!”

Despite this frustration, Gamrot does have a fight booked. He is set to compete against the unranked Ludovit Klein in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 107 later in June. Klein holds an impressive record since returning to the lightweight division, remaining undefeated with six wins and one majority draw.
