Four-year-old Poppy McIlroy, daughter of Rory McIlroy, became the star of the Masters Par 3 competition on Wednesday when she effortlessly made a remarkable 25-foot downhill putt.
Expectations were understandably low as Poppy approached her ball on the ninth green, holding the putter with just one hand. However, she surprised everyone by gently tapping the ball, which then rolled perfectly towards the hole.
As the ball dropped into the hole, Rory Lowry raised his hands in amazement, and Poppy celebrated her successful putt with a heartwarming hug from her father.
“We look forward to this fun afternoon to wrap up our major preparations after nine months since the last one,” McIlroy mentioned to reporters.
“If you`re not prepared by this point, it’s too late. Now it’s about enjoying ourselves, going home for dinner, and getting some rest before Thursday.”
McIlroy is considered a favorite for this year`s Masters, starting on Thursday. He is aiming to win the prestigious green jacket and become only the sixth golfer to achieve a career Grand Slam.
