The cherished Masters Par 3 Contest, a tradition enjoyed by many, marked its 63rd celebration this year.

Originating in 1960 with Sam Snead`s victory in the inaugural event, the Par 3 Contest is a relaxed and enjoyable competition. It invites participants and former Masters champions to play a specially designed nine-hole course with shorter distances. It`s common for golfers to invite family members, famous personalities, partners, or children to serve as their caddies.

Despite its informal and fun atmosphere, participants still aim to perform well and compete.

Historically, there have been 112 instances of holes-in-one achieved during the contest, according to golf statistics. In the 2024 competition, five remarkable holes-in-one were recorded by Luke List, Gary Woodland, Sepp Straka, Lucas Glover, and Viktor Hovland.

Golfing superstition might lead some participants actively competing in the Masters Tournament to avoid winning this preliminary contest. This is because no Par 3 Contest winner has ever gone on to win the Masters in the same year.

Here are some of the most memorable and exciting highlights from this year`s Par 3 Contest:

Sammy Spieth Kicks Off the Fun

Jordan Spieth`s young son took an enthusiastic swing at the golf ball, much to the amusement and delight of the Par 3 Contest spectators.
