Emma Raducanu`s coach, Mark Petchey, shared his thoughts on Jannik Sinner`s defeat by Carlos Alcaraz in the Roland Garros final.
Petchey suggested that while some might have viewed a three-month break from the tour as insufficient consequence, Sinner ultimately paid a price for it in the final.
He explained that Sinner`s lack of recent high-stakes matches meant the emotional demands of the five-set final against Alcaraz became a decisive factor, despite Sinner`s effort to come back. Petchey concluded that missing out on a third consecutive Grand Slam title was a significant cost for Sinner.
