Former world No. 3 Marin Čilić recently shared his thoughts on whether he could foresee himself continuing his professional tennis career into his fifth decade.
“Why not?” he mused. “You truly never know what life has in store for you, especially when you look at how careers concluded for players like Rafa [Nadal], Roger [Federer], or Andy [Murray]. You might feel physically capable, but even the slightest issue can bring everything to a halt. The exact timing of the end is impossible to predict, so my focus is on continuing to find joy in playing and seizing every available chance.”
Čilić also commented on his support system and passion for competition: “Thankfully, I`m supported by an excellent team and a family who travels with me whenever possible. I genuinely enjoy participating, even in smaller tournaments, although each week presents a fresh battle. Everyone is pursuing success, particularly the younger players who perhaps possess even greater hunger now than in the past.”
