Luana Santos etched her name into the Ultimate Fighting Championship record books with a memorable finish at UFC Vegas 106.
Facing Tainara Lisboa in a preliminary women`s bantamweight contest at the UFC APEX, Santos secured a submission victory with just one second remaining in the second round. The tap came courtesy of an Americana lock, a technique rarely seen and never before successfully applied in a women`s fight inside the UFC octagon, making Santos the first female fighter to achieve this.
This bout marked Santos`s return to action following a decision defeat to Casey O`Neill earlier in the year. The 25-year-old`s win improves her impressive promotional record, building upon her previous successes which include stoppage victories over Mariya Agapova and Juliana Miller. She now boasts a strong record in her recent outings.
For Tainara Lisboa, the loss was her first since joining the UFC ranks. The defeat snapped her overall five-fight winning streak, ending her undefeated run within the promotion.
