Derrick Lewis is scheduled to return to the main event spotlight.
The experienced heavyweight fighter is set to face off against undefeated prospect Tallison Teixeira in the headlining bout of UFC Nashville on July 12. News of the booking was confirmed by sources.
This upcoming fight will mark Lewis`s 30th appearance in the UFC. The 40-year-old veteran will be competing for the first time in over a year. His most recent performance was in May 2024 at UFC St. Louis, where he secured a third-round knockout victory over Rodrigo Nascimento in the main event. This win was only his second in his last six contests.
Teixeira, who holds an unblemished professional record of 8-0 and stands at a towering 6-foot-7, made a successful promotional debut in February after earning a UFC contract through Dana White’s Contender Series. The 25-year-old needed just 35 seconds to finish Justin Tafa with strikes, keeping his perfect finishing rate intact.
UFC Nashville signifies the promotion`s return to the capital of Tennessee, following their last event held there in August 2023. That previous Nashville card was headlined by Cory Sandhagen earning a unanimous decision victory over Rob Font.
