American tennis player Jessica Pegula shared her insights on reaching the semifinals of the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami, USA. In the quarterfinals, she overcame Great Britain`s Emma Raducanu in a three-set match, with scores of 6-4, 6-7(3), 6-2.
“It was a tough match,” Pegula commented. “I felt I played a strong first set, but then lost some ground in the second. I managed to regain my footing and even took a 2-0 lead in the tie-break, but things shifted from there. Emma started hitting excellent shots and serving incredibly well.”
“In the third set, my focus was on playing with power and speed. I aimed to seize the initiative, apply pressure, and keep the points short,” Pegula explained during the post-match press conference.
