Jeff Molina has responded to his three-year suspension from the Nevada Athletic Commission, stemming from his involvement in a 2022 betting scandal.
The suspension was issued after Molina placed bets on a UFC event, including a fight involving his teammate Darrick Minner. The commission found that Molina was aware of Minner`s injury prior to the fight and still wagered on the event.
Molina received a three-year suspension, retroactive to November 2022, meaning he can return to competition in November 2025.
In response to criticism, Molina stated that he bet on the entire fight card, a common practice for him to supplement his income. He claims his largest bet was under $500 and that his mistake was continuing to bet after the UFC`s warning email.
He argues the three-year suspension is excessive, pointing to a perceived double standard compared to high-profile fighters like Conor McGregor who publicly share large bets.
Molina clarified that his total wagers were $350 for the event and admitted it was an error to bet knowing about Minner`s injury, but he denies being a “fight-fixing mastermind.”
Prior to the suspension, Molina was an undefeated 3-0 in the UFC flyweight division. Darrick Minner also received a suspension in connection with the scandal.
