Jason Yu, newly crowned National Master

A huge congratulations to Jason Yu of Bellevue, Washington, who has officially secured the esteemed title of U.S. Chess National Master! His rating successfully climbed to 2203 following an impressive showing at the 2nd Annual Seattle Chess Classic, an event that took place from August 15th to 19th.

During the tournament, Jason displayed remarkable prowess, achieving a significant draw against Grandmaster Tarjan and securing decisive victories over strong contenders, including FIDE Master Ignacio Perez and Life Master Viktors Pupols. This series of excellent results cemented his new status.

Jason wishes to express his sincere appreciation to the many coaches who have played a crucial role in his chess development. He extends his thanks to Woman Grandmaster Elena Donaldson, International Master Georgi Orlov, Grandmaster Emil Anka, and Grandmaster Greg Serper.
