Preview Jannik Sinner Reflects on Rome Masters Win Over Cerúndolo: ‘I Feel Progressing’

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner shared his thoughts after defeating Francisco Cerúndolo in the fourth round of the Rome Masters with a score of 7/6(2), 6/3.

He commented, “Cerúndolo is a very tough opponent, and this match posed a significant challenge for me, especially right now as I`m getting accustomed to handling various difficult moments on the court. In the first set, I managed to break him, but he responded effectively. I concentrated on staying focused and battling for every single point. When the score was 5-1, I knew I had to remain sharp because things can shift very quickly in tennis. I`m genuinely pleased with my performance; I feel a distinct sense of progression. I played better today compared to my previous matches here, which is very encouraging. It was a long day, and the support from the crowd was incredibly helpful.”

Asked about his physical state, Sinner added:

“I`ll assess how I feel properly once I`ve recovered from the match. It`s going to be a busy evening with quite a bit of recovery work needed. However, I`m simply happy to be back competing after three months away. I feel very fortunate to be here participating in this event. We`ll just have to see how things develop from this point,” Sinner stated during his post-match press conference.

With this victory, Jannik Sinner has advanced to the quarter-finals of the Rome Masters.
