World No. 1 Jannik Sinner recently discussed whether anti-doping rules should be reconsidered. Reflecting on his own past case, he stated, “It`s a difficult question to answer. The protocols are the same for all players who test positive; there`s no difference in how cases are handled. Although I faced some criticism, I wasn`t treated any differently. I had to go through numerous appeals, and perhaps I was tested even more frequently than others. WADA subsequently reviewed everything. In situations involving contamination, as in my case, medical professionals can determine after review that it provides no physical or mental performance enhancement.”
Sinner was also asked for his opinion on the greatest player among the `Big Three` – Nadal, Djokovic, and Federer. He commented, “I`ve had the chance to know [Nadal and Djokovic] slightly better than Roger [Federer]. I didn`t see or interact with him much. So, I can judge Rafa and Novak a bit better. I really admire Rafa; he genuinely cares about those around him and is an excellent competitor. Statistically, Novak is the leader, but we should feel fortunate to be living in this period. They have achieved extraordinary results over the past two decades.”
