World number one Jannik Sinner of Italy has shared his expectations for his upcoming return to the ATP Tour following a period of absence due to an anti-doping rule violation.
“Now, with less than a month until the start, we are training intensively,” Sinner stated. “I hope I can regain my form by the start of the clay season. I understand it won`t be easy. The first matches will be a serious test, but I expect to be able to quickly get back into the right rhythm, and then we`ll see.”
Sinner also discussed the impact of his forced time away.
“At the beginning of these three months, I stepped away a bit from my usual routine and spent time with loved ones,” he added. “I tried some new things and gained a better understanding of myself. I think it has benefited me.” Jannik Sinner`s return to competitive play is set for the clay Masters tournament in Rome, starting May 7th. He is scheduled to compete as the reigning world number one.
