Miami Masters champion, Jakub Mensik, admitted that he was close to withdrawing from the tournament before it even started.
“An hour before my first match, I was standing with a paper, wanting to withdraw from the tournament. My knee was hurting badly. I was lucky that the head referee went to lunch,” Mensik said at the award ceremony after the final.
“I went to the physio – and he worked a miracle. Thanks to him, I went on the court, and now I`m standing here,” he added.
