Combat sports enthusiasts should mark their calendars for June 28, as it`s set to be a busy night with both the Jake Paul vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. boxing match and UFC 317 scheduled to take place concurrently.
DAZN recently revealed the pay-per-view cost for the highly anticipated Paul vs. Chavez Jr. fight. The event`s undercard also features the return to boxing of former UFC champion Holly Holm.
To watch the Paul vs. Chavez Jr. boxing match, fans will need to pay $59.99 for the pay-per-view, in addition to having a subscription to DAZN.
This bout marks Jake Paul`s next appearance in the ring following his massive event last November. On that occasion, he defeated former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson in a spectacle reportedly watched by over 100 million viewers on Netflix.
The victory over the 58-year-old Tyson improved Paul`s professional record to 11-1. He is now looking to add another significant name to his fighting resume by taking on Chavez Jr. in June.
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., currently 39 years old, is widely considered to be well past the prime of his career when he was a champion and top contender across multiple divisions. His recent performance shows a 3-3 record over his last six fights. This includes a notable loss to UFC legend Anderson Silva, an opponent whom Jake Paul previously defeated in 2022.
Chavez Jr.`s most recent win came by an uninspiring decision against another former UFC competitor, Uriah Hall.
The June event`s main card will also feature Holly Holm`s return to professional boxing for the first time since 2013. She is scheduled to face Yolanda Vega.
The Paul vs. Chavez event is set to directly compete for viewership with UFC 317. The UFC card, emanating from Las Vegas, is headlined by a vacant lightweight title fight where Ilia Topuria moves up to challenge former champion Charles Oliveira. The co-main event sees Alexandre Pantoja defending his flyweight title against Kai Kara-France.
For those interested in the competing mixed martial arts event, UFC 317 will be available via pay-per-view for $79.99, requiring an ESPN+ subscription.
