World number six Jack Draper has once again expressed his support for Jannik Sinner, who is currently serving a suspension after testing positive for the substance clostebol.
“When people ask me about Jannik, I tell them straight: I see him as a very genuine, pleasant person, and on top of that, an incredible tennis player. I am certain that in this situation, he had absolutely no idea about anything. Life is structured in a way that sometimes mistakes happen.”
Draper continued, “As for my view of him as a person, I think it`s important for people to know and recognize: this guy is kind-hearted and a good person. He doesn`t deserve the negativity he`s receiving,” he was quoted by BBC Sport.
The British player also commented on his recent practice session with Sinner.
“I knew Jannik was free and would be training on clay in Monte Carlo, so my team and I arranged to go there for three or four days to practice.”
“If you`re going to practice with someone, it might as well be with one of the best in the world, right? Of course, he hasn`t been training much yet, but he still shows an incredible level. It was great to spend a few days with him.”
“I`m eagerly awaiting his return to the Tour. In my opinion, he`s missed here.”
