Before delivering a standout performance in the octagon to claim the undisputed UFC middleweight championship against Robert Whittaker, Israel Adesanya crafted what became one of the most iconic walkouts in UFC history.
Adesanya engaged in a brief, choreographed dance at the entrance before making his walk to the cage in Melbourne, Australia. This legendary entrance preceded his brutal knockout victory over Whittaker, unifying the UFC`s 185-pound title.
Over five years later, “The Last Stylebender” discussed the origins of the dance and walkout during a podcast appearance.
“This was just for fun… I enjoyed doing this because I prepped the night before this walkout. So, going to bed, I had the replay of the walkout, the practice, in my phone, and I was like, ‘F*ck, this is going to look cool as f*ck’ as I fell asleep.
“So I wasn’t worried about the fight. We already did the work.”
Following the walkout and his preparation, Adesanya demonstrated his readiness in the fight itself. He came close to finishing Whittaker in the first round before ultimately securing a definitive knockout in Round 2, marking his biggest career triumph at that moment.
