Ilia Topuria`s strong confidence ahead of UFC 317 remained evident during his final faceoff with Charles Oliveira and his subsequent interview with Joe Rogan.
Topuria and Oliveira are scheduled to compete for the vacant lightweight championship in the main event of Saturday`s pay-per-view card taking place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Both fighters successfully made weight on Friday morning before participating in the ceremonial faceoffs.
When Rogan asked Topuria about the significance of the upcoming fight, “El Matador” predicted a completely dominant performance leading to him becoming a two-division titleholder.
“You’re going to see one of the greatest performances of all-time tomorrow,” Topuria stated. “Another domination. Another finish. We are going to make history once again, so tune in.”
Oliveira now has the opportunity to reclaim the lightweight title and become a two-time champion. While “Do Bronx” expressed confidence in the matchup, his final remarks took a spiritual turn.
“The word of the lord has always guided me, and I felt his presence throughout the entire week,” Oliveira commented. “Everything has been perfect, and everything is working as planned.”
He added, “Let me tell you something: I am ready for him. Tomorrow night will be a great fight, a great show. I am ready for this challenge.”
