World No. 2 Iga Świątek commented on her defeat by Danielle Collins (1-6, 5-7) in the third round of the tournament in Rome. This marks the first time since 2021 that the Polish tennis player has failed to reach the Round of 16 at a WTA 1000 event. She also hasn`t won titles since her last major triumph.
“Of course, it`s not easy. Obviously, I`m doing something wrong. I need to gather myself and change some things,” Świątek stated. She added that her team has provided her with advice that she intends to follow.
When asked about emotional support, Iga mentioned her psychologist, Daria Abramovich, and the entire team. “We talked and came to certain conclusions. So I`m going to change my mindset a little,” she explained.
Speaking about her expectations for the upcoming Roland Garros (French Open), Świątek noted that they are not high, as she is not currently displaying her usual level of tennis. She plans to focus on adjusting her mindset, regrouping, and working day-by-day.
Regarding whether “special feelings” for a particular tournament, as other players might experience, or if she has such feelings towards Paris, she replied that she doesn`t concern herself with what others do and sees no point in comparisons. She also stated that her feelings are not relevant, as each year is different.
