C’Chartres Métropole Basket has announced significant changes within its leadership, suspending both head coach Franck Le Goff and general manager Milan Vasic. This decision comes at a challenging time for the team, which currently sits 11th out of 14 in the Nationale 1 lower pool, with a record of 6 wins and 13 losses.
Franck Le Goff had recently joined Chartres on December 28, stepping into the role vacated by Guillaume Le Pape. He is a recognized figure in French basketball, notably for his long tenure as an assistant coach to Pascal Donnadieu at Nanterre from 2006 to 2021. Before arriving in Chartres, he also served as a coach for Levallois in both the NM1 and NM2 leagues.
Club’s Official Statement and Future Direction
Yves Paris, President of C’Chartres Métropole Basket, released an official statement detailing the club’s rationale behind these changes and outlining the path forward:
“In light of both the sporting and non-sporting circumstances, C’Chartres Métropole Basket informs you of the suspension of coach Franck Le Goff and general manager Milan Vasic from their respective duties. Within this context, and with a clear intention to prepare for the club’s future, the management has decided to entrust the coaching responsibilities for the first team to Abgué Barakaou for the remainder of the season. He will receive support in sports management from Théo Faure, Yohann Meyniel, and Dejan Sencanski, working in close collaboration with the club’s leadership.
“Their primary mission will be to remobilize the squad and foster unity among the players as they approach the final seven crucial matches of this second phase, which are vital for the club’s continued presence in the league. C’Chartres Métropole Basket remains fully engaged and focused on the upcoming challenges, determined to defend its colors with commitment and resolve, while simultaneously laying the groundwork for its future sporting project. The club extends its sincere gratitude to its partners, supporters, and all stakeholders for their unwavering support.”
The club is clearly committed to navigating these current difficulties and building a stronger foundation for the future, calling upon the collective support of all involved during this transitional period.
