Preview First Patch for Pokémon Champions on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 Addresses Key Issues

Just days after its launch with version 1.0.2, Pokémon Champions is set to receive its first bug-fixing patch. Details about the upcoming update have been released, though a specific release date is yet to be announced. We will keep you informed once it becomes available. Since the competitive title’s debut, players have encountered a variety of problems, with the most significant issues reportedly stemming from the highly anticipated Pokémon Home transfer functionality.

Below is a list of the bug fixes that will be implemented in the game, developed by The Pokémon Works, a collaboration between The Pokémon Company and ILCA, the creators of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond / Shining Pearl.

Known Issues

The description for the status effect “Leech Seed” is currently incorrect.

Incorrect: Recovers HP equal to 1/16 of the target’s maximum HP.
Correct: Recovers HP equal to 1/8 of the target’s maximum HP.

It’s important to note that the calculation itself is accurate during battles.

Under specific circumstances, when both Pokémon undergo Mega Evolution simultaneously, the turn order may be displayed incorrectly.

The gender of certain Pokémon in the tutorial section is incorrect.

Similarly, the gender of some Pokémon in posted linked teams is also inaccurate.

While in the “Encore” status, the ability “Lightning Rod” may not activate as expected. Additionally, when viewing move details during a battle, if the cursor is placed on “Mega Evolution” and the B button is pressed, the player will be unable to select a move.

To circumvent this, players can avoid this issue by opening and closing the surrender window using the [-] button.

These known issues are expected to be resolved in future data updates or maintenance.

Bug Fixes

A communication error may occur when sending Pokémon on expeditions from Pokémon Home.

Pokémon Champions is available on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.
